After spending a great deal of my own time (and that of my mechanic friends in the neighborhood) trying to diagnose my non-starting engine problem, Ken at Davis fixed it by simply replacing the cap and rotor (which I could have and should have done myself). I was surprised that was all it was, since I had replaced the cap and rotor just 16,000 miles ago, and I tested all the spark plugs and they were all firing. Apparently there was some kind of electrical leak down through a carbon trail in the rotor. Even though it cost $240 for Ken to figure it out and fix it, Ken had to spend time eliminating other possible sources for the problem. It was great news that it wasn't something more serious and really expensive, as I had feared. With a 1990 GMC van with 263,000 miles on it, it's hard to justify putting too much money into it. Now, instead of hauling it off to the crusher like I was considering, I have an operational van that I can use for some utility projects coming up. This is the second time Ken has bailed me out with his great diagnostic skills. For the next problem in the future, I'm sure I'll try to figure it out myself, but I'd like to think I'd bring it to Ken a little sooner, before I get quite so deep down the rabbit hole!

I normally don't write reviews, but this experience warrants one. I own a 1999 BMW and I noticed some loud grinding noises coming from under the left rear tire. I knew it would be a costly repair given the sound it was making. I drove it to this shop and they said it might be a few days before they could look at it. They gave me a free rental car (didn't even have to pay for gas) while my car was in the shop (3 days total). They called me before they made any serious repairs to get my approval. They were very professional and honest with the quote they gave me. Unlike other automotive repair shops who try to sell you on things that don't need fixing, they simply said that there was only one major repair that needed to be fixed at the time and a few minor things that they could eventually fix if I wanted them too. The cost of the repair was actually a few hundred dollars less than I was expecting which is always a nice surprise! So far the sound is gone, my car runs smooth, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

It is the first diagnosis of my car shimmying when I apply the brakes that makes sense. The dealer did not get tit right, my other mechanics did not get it right. When I have the money set aside we will fix it.

This is a new review. Google said I had reviewed them before. I did, three years ago. This time, like last, the service was most excellent. My last review was regarding a different car. This is a 3-year old car where I thought I might have a clutch problem. Davis Repair is the only person I trust with an evaluation. They told me, no, no clutch problem they also did a 15 point inspection to see what else might be wrong. Nothing. Davis will tell me when something is wrong, they have before. However, they will also tell you to get lost, you have nothing wrong with your car. They say get lost very lovingly. Skip

Great review Skip...thank you for your support.

Great to work with, honest integrity is something lacking in many shops, but in speaking with Larry, that is not the case here.

Needed servicing on my '09 Jeep as well as some advice on replacement of some parts. Got great service and great advice including on a couple of items that I could skip as they said they were unnecessary at this time. These folks are the best.
